Maintenance and Support Plans
A concept that is increasingly being used in the area of computer maintenance for small businesses is the ‘Service Block’ method of support plan. This type of plan is designed to address the problems associated with the lack of periodic maintenance and upkeep of security software, without the expense of employing a full-time IT department. PC Rescue offer various plans to suit business typically from one to 50 users.
“Why would I need a support plan? – we are only a small business!”
Quite simply, a malfunctioning computer system erodes your profits, regardless of the size or turnover of your business.
PC Rescue can provide you with ongoing IT maintenance and support to ensure the smooth running and upkeep of your IT system, aiming for minimal downtime and continued productivity. We can provide regular remote administration and maintenance, regular service reports, and remote or onsite support when required to ensure any potential problems are dealt with quickly and efficiently. Our friendly and knowledgeable technicians will effectively be part of your team to help you get the most out of your IT system.
“This is going to be expensive, right?”
Many businesses think they are too small and that it would be too expensive to have someone regularly looking after their systems. However, it can work our more cost-effective to have a solid support plan in place than risk trying to find someone to fix your system at short notice if something goes wrong.
Our support plans provide ‘Blocks’ in multiples of 5 labour hours that are paid for in monthly instalments, spread over the year. As a rough guide, multiply the number of computers you have by 3 (rounded up to the nearest 5) to arrive at a typical number of hours to cover 12 months of support. This figure is only a guide however, as some devices may need more maintenance than others, whilst installations of new computers, servers and printers also need to be accounted for, along with regular backup checks. As well as regular maintenance, your block hours will also be used to cover any unexpected IT issues that may occur from time to time.
Our charges equate to £55 +VAT per hour, the minimum amount being 10 hours per year.
We will of course discuss your needs in detail before recommending a plan that best suits you and your business.
The stakes are higher for the micro business or homeworker.
If you’re using a computer for work, it has to work – If it’s not working… neither are you.
Whether you’re running a business from your office, home or working remotely, the chances are you’re more reliant on your IT than you realise. Some businesses only exist online, while some only use a computer for a few tasks, but in either case, if it’s not working… neither are you.
PC’s and their peripherals, a dependable internet connection and a handful of subscriptions to online services have become the backbone of most micro businesses. They have become essential for anyone working remotely or from home.
There are some processes for all businesses that are literally deal breakers. Issuing invoices, running payroll, making bank transfers to pay staff and suppliers. These are pivotal and vital admin tasks, without which it is impossible to operate. All of them are performed digitally now. Keeping the money flowing depends on your computer working when you need it to.
Being able to carry on when faced with a technical problem can be a real challenge for small and micro businesses. If important data files and are lost, damaged or even hacked, if the internet connection is lost, if PC’s stop working… then how quickly can your business get up and running again?
A final thought – could you afford the consequences if your computer system crashed tomorrow without warning?
